26 October 2022
From 23 to 26 October, Bishkek is hosting a national seminar on the development of training modules in accordance with the standards of teacher competence in information and communication technologies (ICT).
More than 35 participants from the field of education from all regions of Kyrgyzstan, representatives of the ministries of education responsible for the development of ICT in education, representatives of universities, members of the country working group of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic and experts from UNESCO are participating in the seminar.
Over the course of four days, the participants of the national workshop, together with UNESCO, will develop training modules that will help experts support teachers in integrating ICT into teaching and learning practices.
UNESCO provides technical assistance to the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in developing and implementing ICT competency standards for teachers in line with the national vision and government goals in the field of education. The technical assistance aims to support the government's efforts to introduce competency-based teacher training reforms that promote the integration of ICT into teaching methods. Key achievements of the project to date include teacher ICT competency standards, which have been developed by a country team established by the ministry and comprised of key stakeholders. Competency standards cover basic, intermediate and advanced levels of proficiency. For the basic and intermediate levels, curricula have been developed that have already been approved for teacher education. The ICT Competence Standards for Teachers were officially approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic on June 8, 2020.
Magnus Magnusson, officer in charge of the UNESCO Almaty Cluster Office for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
The seminar is organized within the framework of the project “Strengthening National Capacity to Promote Digital Citizenship Education in the Asia-Pacific Region”, supported by the Korea Trust Fund.
