Kazakhstan: Access to information training for media outlets in Kyzylorda

25-27 September 2014 Minber foundation in cooperation with UNESCO Almaty Office conducted the training workshop for 12 media outlets on Access to Information issues in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan. The workshop is organized in the framework of Kyzylorda Joint Programme between Government of Kazakhstan and UN by straightening social services to population.

This training helped to review the access to information to public services from the point of regular reader. I plan to write an article about access to clean drinking water in our newspaper.

9 journalists and 3 chief editors of print and electronic media from Kyzylorda, Kazalinsk and Aralsk gained knowledge and skills on writing articles related to accessing governmental information, based on services provision for local population.

Training delivered presentations, discussions and practical exercises in Kazak language bearing in mind, the lack of information for Kazak speaking region.

The UNESCO reading materials as well as international sources in Kazak language used for local journalists.

Population of Kyzylorda region needs an information about the public services. Journalists who writes in Kazakh language can really assist in finding of the necessary information for people in Kyzylorda oblast.

The training organized in the framework of the joint program "Improving the welfare and quality of life in the Kyzylorda region through innovative approaches to delivering economic, social and environmental services to the local population, including those most vulnerable," implemented by the Government and the UN agencies in the Republic of Kazakhstan: UNESCO, UNDP, UNFPA, UN Women, UNICEF and WHO. Project started in July 2014 till December 2016.
