The project promote the exchanges of good practices along the Silk Roads to promote common understanding about the Silk Roads heritage as a bridge between the East and the West, such as through the promotion of networking among the national museums, the identification of themes for official travel routes for the Silk Roads Heritage Corridors under one brand name, improved cooperation among the local authorities, heritage managers and tourism specialists.

Bringing together scholars, historians and experts, as well as representatives of the national museums and international organizations, the international conference in Samarkand set the stage for the EU/UNESCO project by contributing to the reflection on the common heritage along the Silk Roads and identifying the themes/thematic paths for the regional travelling exhibit to be developed in the framework of the project in cooperation with the national museums of the participating countries.
